I hope everyone is having a restful summer. There was a dramatic turn of events. After the opening ceremonies for the Cats Conclave to elect a new leader of the rectory, Father Craig returned from his trip right as the voting had started.
Welcome to the second Intern column. We are finishing the second full week of Father Craig being gone. How have we survived without our valiant pastor?
I was alone this week as Father Brown was also absent, and as of day one when I am writing this column, the rectory has not burned down yet. All the pets are thriving, and everyone has all their appendages.
Happy Memorial Day! The unofficial start of summer: break out the swimsuits, flip flops and vacations! That’s where I am: on vacation. If you’re reading this on Saturday or Sunday, I’m in London.
Come the weekend of May 31/June 1 we’ll welcome Father Jim Benz, a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Louis who will preach on behalf of an organization called Unbound. Unbound works to alleviate poverty in 17 developing countries around the world.
Happy Mother’s Day! Thank God for mothers! Thank God for the Gift of Life! Thank God for mothers who teach and love and correct and everything besides! In a special way, we ask God to bless new and expectant mothers! May you know of God’s and our constant love, affection and respect for you! Thank you, mom!
Last weekend we kicked off our participation in the 2025 Annual Catholic Appeal. Every year the Catholic Church comes together to support the efforts of the Archdiocese of St. Louis writ large. MQP has a long history of supporting the ACA and, like last year, receiving some of the money back through a grant.
Happy Easter! And, May Pope Francis rest in Peace. I’m writing this article on Monday and I just saw that the Pope died earlier this morning in Rome. You may remember that the Pope had a series of health problems in recent months.
A Blessed, Joy-filled Easter to you and your family. Jesus’s Resurrection is not only a historical event of cosmic consequences, but also of cosmic, and unfathomable meaning.
We enter into Holy Week, please consider joining us for the Holy Week Liturgies. The Greatest Story ever told, the one of our Redemption in Christ, is presented to us in three distinct liturgies.
The Webster/Kirkwood Penance Service is on Monday, April 7 beginning at 6pm. (This is joint venture with Holy Redeemer and St. Peter.) 13 priests will be available to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation with you
Our almsgiving project this year for Lent is to support Farm of the Child. This organization raises money and operates orphanages in Honduras. The mission with our almsgiving project this Lent is to raises $40,000 that will help Farm of the Child renovate four of seven dormitories used to house and educate the children.
In the coming weeks, you’ll be hearing more about our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program. We’ll be showing a short video at the end of each mass this weekend, and our CGS catechists will speak about the meaningful impact CGS is having on our MQP community
Happy Candlemas! This day, also known as the Feast of the Presentation, is called such because in the Gospel proclaimed this day, Simeon the Elder says, “[…] for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.”
Our Celebration of Christmas comes to an end today with the Celebration of the Lord’s Baptism. Today, the Voice of the Father resounds from Heaven and pronounces Jesus the Beloved: “You are my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Lk 3:22).
Happy New Year! Father Ken, Mr. Ben and I would like to extend a heartfelt word of gratitude, appreciation and love for all the cards, gifts and food-goodies we received over the Christmas Season.
