Happy Candlemas! This day, also known as the Feast of the Presentation, is called such because in the Gospel proclaimed this day, Simeon the Elder says, “[…] for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.”
Our Celebration of Christmas comes to an end today with the Celebration of the Lord’s Baptism. Today, the Voice of the Father resounds from Heaven and pronounces Jesus the Beloved: “You are my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Lk 3:22).
Happy New Year! Father Ken, Mr. Ben and I would like to extend a heartfelt word of gratitude, appreciation and love for all the cards, gifts and food-goodies we received over the Christmas Season.
Next Sunday, December 1 will be the First Sunday of Advent. Christmas this year is in the middle of the Fourth Week of Advent and so the liturgical season seems shortened; only 24 days of Advent.
