Protecting God's Children

In order to protect the safety of all children, the U. S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has mandated compliance with the Protecting God's Children Program by all employees and volunteers who work with children in any way. Therefore, if you have any contact with children at Mary Queen of Peace Parish whether it be through the school or any organization, you must comply with this Program. Detailed information regarding the Program may be viewed at the Archdiocesan website at:

http://archstl.org/sep

There are THREE requirements in order to be in FULL compliance with the USCCB Protecting God's Children Program.

1.WORKSHOP:
Attendance at a 2 1/2 hour Workshop is required.  Workshops are presented throughout the Archdiocese several times each month at various Parishes and other locations. The following website will take you to the Archdiocese of St. Louis site which lists the locations, dates and times of the Workshops required for the Protecting God's Children Program:

Choose the Workshop that is most convenient in date, time and location for you. Make a reservation if required. Be on time. When you arrive for the workshop BE SURE to register that you are from Mary Queen of Peace Parish. Otherwise you will not be credited for your attendance.

2. BACKGROUND CHECK:
There are two ways to authorize a background check:

A. If you have a Social Security Card, make a copy of it and submit the copy and a completed and signed Worker Registration form to Sue Barnowski at the MQP Rectory either by mail or in person.  You may download, print and then sign to complete this form at this site:

http://archstl.org/files/field-file/WorkerRegistration_4.pdf

OR you may request she mail you a form - Or - you may pick up a form at the MQP Rectory. Sue's telephone number is 314-962-2311. Please NOTE: You must have a physical Social Security Card to copy. No other ID which includes your Social Security number on it is acceptable.

NOTE: If you do not have a copy of your Social Security card you may get a copy by going to any Social Security Office. Call them for current locations, hours and requirements.

B. The following is the easiest way to get your Background Check but it will cost $10 charged to your Credit Card. (In A. above the parish pays the $10)

Go online to the following site: http://www.dhss.mo.gov/FCSR/

This is The Family Care Safety Registry of the Department of Health and Senior Services of the State of Missouri.

Click - in the left hand column - Register Online HERE (third item down).[you may get a page "Internet Worker Registration System". If you do hit the 'continue" button] It will ask you for your Social Security Number. Enter it. Hit Enter and the next page will appear requesting personal information and your credit card information.
Upon completion it will show a receipt. Print one for yourself and one to mail to Sue Barnowski. You may email the receipt to Sue Barnowski at mqpeagle@aol.com. The receipt is required by Sue to confirm your registration and for her to request the results of the background check.
Note: If you have already had a background check through the Family Care Safety Registry - call Sue - with your Social Security number. She can then access your background check on their system. The Protecting Gods Children Program requires a background check every 2 years but once you are in the Family Care Safety Registry system she can access your background check without further authorization from you.
